We’re back with another segment in our ongoing series—selecting the best-fitting bras for different breast shapes. As always, finding your best bra comes down to a simple equation: Size + Shape = Your Best Bra Fit™. This time, we’re focusing on breasts that are shallow on top and full on bottom.
Do I Have Shallow Top/Full Bottom Breasts?
Not sure if you have shallow top/full bottom breasts? This is a shape common for women who have breastfed but can happen to anyone with age. Having this shape means your breasts have less fullness at the top than at the bottom—with more tissue below the nipples than above them. In fact, the bottom of the breasts can be quite round. Still not sure? Stand topless in front of your mirror and face the side. If there’s a straight line from the top of your chest to the top of the nipple, it’s likely that you have shallow top/full bottom breast.
Selecting The Right Bras
Filling in and creating more volume at the top of your breast is key for this breast shape and there are a few characteristics to look for in a bra. First, it’s important not to have too much coverage, as this can contribute to gaping. Aim for a bra with an elastic neckline and close-set straps. The elastic neckline ensures that the bra is hugging the top of your breasts, where the tissue is most depleted. Close-set straps also help alleviate any extra space or gaping that you might experience in other styles. A t-shirt bra is also a great option because of its contour pads. Below, we’re sharing five Wacoal bra styles that work particularly great for shallow top/full bottom breasts.
