Is there a difference between lingerie and underwear?
Miryha Fantegrossi, Wacoal Head of Design, is asked to weigh in on the topic of lingerie vs. underwear frequently, and her answer inspires the evolution of Wacoal’s bra and panty collections, season after season.
“Historically, underwear implies function first—while the word lingerie evokes more of an aesthetic purpose. The idea that intimates have to be one or the other is something our design team challenges every time we sit around the table to create—there really is no reason that women can’t have both!”
“When a woman is shopping for ‘lingerie,’ she sets out with the intention to find a piece that makes her feel beautiful, feminine and powerful all at once. A romantic accessory that is all about style, not about structure. However, structural details make a huge difference in the way she will feel in her lingerie,” explains Miryha.
“Structure is what lifts and shapes her body. Our ability to wrap the technical elements that Wacoal is known for into a design that looks like it was picked up at an out-of-the-way boutique is on full display with the launch of Embrace Lace.”
The Wacoal design team combines traditional garment construction and artisan-inspired aesthetics in our Embrace Lace® Collection, which features a matching bra and panty, as well as a super chic chemise. Explore the collection for yourself at wacoal.ca.
